This internship will run from January to May 2025.

Virtropolis VR seeks an enthusiastic intern to join our team as a Retail Associate & Entry-Level Unreal Engine VR Developer. This unique hybrid role combines retail responsibilities with the exciting opportunity to develop and test VR games. You’ll contribute to creating unforgettable VR experiences and gain valuable insights into how a diverse audience interacts with VR games in real time.

Retail Duties

  • Welcome and assist customers in choosing VR games that suit their preferences.
  • Help customers into VR headsets and provide guidance during gameplay to ensure a seamless experience.
  • Monitor customers to ensure they are enjoying their time and assist with any technical or gameplay issues.
  • Create a welcoming, family-friendly environment where customer satisfaction is the top priority.

Game Development Duties

  • Develop organized, modular scripts using Unreal Engine 5’s visual scripting (C++ programming is a plus).
  • Collaborate with the team to design and test immersive VR gameplay mechanics and systems.
  • Utilize the on-site VR arcade as a live testing environment to observe how players of all ages and skill levels interact with games.
  • Debug issues, iterate on gameplay ideas, and improve overall game quality based on real-time player feedback.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Passion for VR, gaming, and customer service.
  • Basic experience with Unreal Engine (visual scripting or C++).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to assist customers and ensure a positive VR experience.
  • Educational background in game design, computer science, or related fields.

Preferred:

  • Experience integrating art assets into game engines (3D models, textures, UI).
  • A strong game design sense with the ability to analyze gameplay mechanics.

Job Types: Part-time, Temporary

Expected hours: 20 per week

Shift: 10 hour shift
